Excel Level 2: Intermediate Overview

Extend Excel skills into multi-sheet workbooks, charts, financial functions and advanced formatting.

Part of the PCG Excel Training Program, which builds Excel proficiency in progressive stages: from core worksheet skills, through intermediate charting and financial functions, to advanced business-analysis tools such as pivot tables, macros and OLAP. Each level runs as its own one-day session, and a short bonus module covers what is new in Excel 365 (maps, data types, cell comments, data from a picture).

What we cover

  • Multiple worksheets and workbooks Inserting, renaming and deleting worksheets, multiple views, freezing panes, arranging windows, navigating multiple workbooks, workspaces, moving and copying data between sheets, linking data, 3-D formulas.
  • Charts Purpose and use of charts, creating a chart, changing type, style and sub-type, changing and adding source data, managing, moving, resizing and deleting chart objects, adding data series, formatting and printing charts.
  • Advanced functions Working with arguments (the PMT function), dates and times in calculations, nested functions, auditing worksheets, the audit commands, the Watch Window, the Formula Evaluator, tracing and correcting errors.
  • Advanced formats Comments, styles and conditional formats, Format Painter, custom number formats, table formats.
  • Macros and templates Using macros to automate your work environment and using templates.
