What we cover
Module 1: SharePoint Orientation & Navigation (1 hr, beginner) SharePoint Online versus on-premises. Sites, libraries, lists and pages. SharePoint versus OneDrive versus Teams: what lives where. Team sites versus communication sites. Navigating a site, global search, following and pinning, and personalizing your view.
Module 2: Document Libraries & File Management (1.5 hrs, beginner) Library anatomy: columns, views, metadata. Uploading files and folders. Creating Office files in the browser. Document templates. Real-time co-authoring. Version history, check-out and check-in. Copying and moving files. Syncing to File Explorer. Sharing files: link types, permissions and expiry dates.
Module 3: Lists & Data Management (2 hrs, beginner) Lists versus libraries versus Excel. Creating lists from scratch or templates. Column types, calculated columns and validation. Quick Edit for bulk entry. Metadata tags. Filters, sorting, grouping and custom views. Conditional formatting. Saving and sharing views. Email and Teams alerts.
Module 4: Collaboration, Sharing & Communication (2 hrs, intermediate) Sharing files, folders and entire sites. Link types, expiry and view-only versus edit access. Revoking access. External and guest sharing. @mentions in comments and pages. Alerts and notifications. SharePoint in Teams channel tabs and with Outlook. Co-authoring news and shared documents.
Module 5: Pages, News & Web Parts (2 hrs, intermediate) Team-site pages versus communication-site pages. Creating and editing modern pages. Core web parts (Text, Image, Call to Action, Quick Links) and content web parts (Document Library, List, Calendar, People, Highlighted Content, Countdown, News). Layouts and visual best practices. News posts and announcements. Discussion boards. Site navigation. Page analytics.
Module 6: Automation & Integrations (2.5 hrs, advanced) Rule-based automation built into lists and libraries. When to use rules versus Power Automate. Microsoft Forms to a SharePoint list. Building a no-code notification flow and a no-code approval flow. Monitoring and editing flows.
Module 7: Site Design & Ownership (2 hrs, advanced) Planning a site: audience, purpose and content structure. Creating and configuring a new team or communication site. Templates and themes. Connecting a site to a hub. Customizing navigation. Designing a basic dashboard with lists and web parts. Site-owner responsibilities and governance basics: naming conventions and access reviews.
